Thomas J Henry Launches Campaign in Support of Battered Women and Children Awareness

Four years ago, Thomas J Henry began airing a PSA campaign every April in support of ending domestic abuse. The frequency of battered women and children in Texas is not much different than any other large state in America.  Unfortunately, caseloads reached epic proportions during the two years of the pandemic and remains high to this day.

Most people don’t know this, but Thomas J Henry is a man of strong convictions, and he possesses a very big heart for those in need. What started out as an annual battered women and children awareness campaign in San Antonio four years ago, has expanded into Austin and Corpus Christi, Texas in the years that followed. In September of 2021, Thomas J Henry expanded his business footprint into the DFW market. Without hesitation, Mr. Henry started supporting a shelter in Dallas and another in Fort Worth.

Each market will have a market-specific PSA campaign in support of local shelters and additionally, Mr. Henry will be making a $40,000 donation in each city.

Each organization being supported has done incredible and impactful work in their communities.

Christy’s Hope

Christy’s Hope is located in San Antonio and has been serving the community for 24 years. The organization works directly with the San Antonio Battered Women’s Shelter to support them by hosting fundraising events and campaigns so that the shelter can maintain their open arms policy, and never have to turn a family away due to lack of funding. The shelter also provides 24-hour crisis intervention, counseling, legal assistance, an on-site school for children, on-site adult education, case management services, transitional housing, and on-site primary medical and dental care. To find out how you can donate and the impact you can make, visit Christy’s Hope’s donation page.

The SAFE Alliance

SAFE has been supporting the Austin community for over 47 years. Their mission is to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. They are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse. Among their many services, they offer housing and shelter as well as a confidential 24/7 SAFEline that allows those in need of help to call for immediate assistance. The Purple Door

The Purple Door is headquartered in Corpus Christi with additional offices located in the surrounding rural areas. They have been providing a safe haven to women and children affected by abuse in the Coastal Bend for 45 years. Their mission is to empower the community and those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault to transition to a safe and healthy environment. Their goal is to end domestic violence and sexual assault in the Coastal Bend, and they strive to accomplish this by providing services to victims and their families as well as through their prevention education efforts. Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support

Genesis has been supporting the Dallas community for the last 38 years. Their mission is to provide safety, shelter and support for women who have experienced domestic violence, and to raise awareness regarding its cause, prevalence and impact. They strive to create a societal shift on how people think about domestic violence and know that in order for that to happen, everyone has to share the same message that there is help and there is hope. If you’d like to donate to their cause of spreading that message, you can visit their website.

SafeHaven

SafeHaven, the only state designated family violence center in Tarrant County, began in 1976 starting as two agencies: The Women’s Haven in Fort Worth and The Women’s Shelter in Arlington. They merged in 2006 to become SafeHaven, but over their 45+ year history, they’ve never strayed from their mission: to end domestic violence in Tarrant County. Everything they do is with the end goal of freedom from domestic violence, because everyone deserves to be safe. Safety is a basic human right. If you’d like to support their cause, you can donate here.
