Former San Antonio Spurs player, Tony Parker (and future NBA Hall of Famer), and The PM Group’s CEO, Bob Wills, have been friends for many years. Both are collectors of pop culture art. Tony has collected over 40 sci-fi character statues like Iron Man and Superman, while Bob has over 40 Hollywood movie cars like Iron Man 2’s Formula 1 race car and two Batmobiles in his car collection.
Big boys and their toys! But their friendly competitiveness led to a greater conversation about creating a museum exhibit of Tony’s statues at the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA).
The exhibit idea was born, and the 12-month wait is over!
Tony Parker’s Heroes & Villains exhibit at SAMA has opened and will be open each week Tuesday through Sunday June 10, 2022, through September 4, 2022.
The PM Group team of Elizabeth Bomer, Courtney Eberts, Brad Gunter, Stephen Sereno, Kathy Schmitt, Rosalyn McMahon, Marion DeWall, and Tony Pro along with Bob Wills, worked with SAMA’s curatorial staff to create this incredible museum exhibit. “This is the second pop culture exhibit The PM Group has created for SAMA in the last two years and we are looking forward to another record-breaking attendance showing this summer,” stated Bob Wills. Last year’s exhibit, Movie Metal, set all-time spring break attendance records at the museum despite strict government COVID restrictions still in force at the time.
“I’ve been collecting Marvel and DC statues since I was a kid and today I have nearly 50 statues. Creating this exhibit with Bob Wills is my way of giving back to the San Antonio community that has given me so much,” stated Tony Parker. “Seeing this exhibit open at SAMA now is beyond belief,” Parker added.
