It’s that time of year again to test your luck while supporting a great cause! Texas YES is hosting their annual Drive Away for Education Truck Raffle and Online Auction to raise funds for schools to receive support across the state.
The grand prize winner will get to choose one truck out of five different brands: Nissan Titan, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F150, RAM 1500, GMC Sierra. The second-place winner will receive a $4,000 shopping spree in gift cards while the third-place winner will receive $2,500 in gas gift cards. Weekly drawings will also be held through the entire campaign for participants to be able to win a $200 gift card!
To enter you can buy tickets now – tickets sell for one for $25, three for $50, and ten for $100. You can also take part in the online auction with all raffle and auction proceeds benefiting the San Antonio Youth Education Support Project (SA YES), DFW YES, Austin YES, and CC YES to purchase school supplies for local Title 1 Elementary schools, provide access to literacy year-round, and provide funding to schools. The last day to purchase raffle tickets is Sunday, August 7th at 11:59pm. The winners will be announced on the 10pm news on WOAI-TV in San Antonio on Wednesday, August 10th. There will also be a Facebook live drawing for those not able to tune into the broadcast.
“We are always so overwhelmed with this support from the community, and we hope this year is no exception. As inflation increases, our efforts to support students in August will be more important than ever. For students, school supplies will be the last thing on their parent’s mind as they focus on paying more for gas and food,” Executive Director, Danielle Gunter, shared with us.
For over 20 years the YES program has worked to supply students with the supplies and resources they need for success. Their Box of Dreams and Little Locker programs deliver schools supplies and provide easy access to books within students’ own neighborhoods. Additionally, they provide direct grants to teachers and schools to fund new initiatives such as STEM education and classroom updates. The following districts are supported by the YES program.
San Antonio: Edgewood ISD, San Antonio ISD, South San ISD, Harlandale ISD
Dallas: Dallas ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD
Austin: Del Valle ISD
Corpus Christi: Corpus Christi ISD
