Six years ago, our team launched The Puppy Food Bank to help save pet lives. To date, we have helped save thousands of pets in our brief history. So, who or what was the inspiration for Puppy Food Bank?
“Dexter”, that’s who!
Dexter had been by best friend, work soul mate, and the co-pilot in my SUV every Monday through Friday for 13 years. He was Havanese and he came to work with me every day. Sadly, he moved on to heaven on June 29th. He suffered from congestive heart failure, and I did the hardest thing I ever have done…euthanizing my best friend! The vet said it’s “the humane thing to do” when a pet is suffering. I understand that, but it still makes my heart ache. Dexter never barked, he loved everyone, and he was quite the little gentlemen! I begrudgingly said goodbye to my dear friend with lots of tears!
The Puppy Food Bank is a virtual food bank, having no pet food warehouse, yet providing dog and cat food to pet rescues all across America. Check out the map at www.PuppyFoodBank.org to see the pet rescues Puppy Food Bank supports today.
And if you’d like to donate to, or support the Puppy Food Bank, remember this; Dexter was the one that touched my heart and made it possible for thousands of dogs to get adopted.
“Dexter was the true founder of Puppy Food Bank! His kind nature was my inspiration for creating the non-profit,” stated Puppy Food Bank founder and board president, Bob Wills.
