On January 4th, the nation’s top high school football players will be showing off their skills at the Alamodome during this year’s All-American Bowl. Following the national game, San Antonio Sports showcases the area’s best high school seniors in the All-Star Football Game presented by H-E-B. These students not only get the chance to play with other top football players, but they also get the chance to impress college recruiters with potential scholarships to offer before National Signing Day.
The All-American Bowl will begin at 12:00 pm CST and will be broadcast on NBC, as it is the most-watched high school sporting event every year. This is much more than just a game, but a year-round celebration of high school excellence on and off the playing field. In the history of this event, there have been 380 draft picks, 52 future Super Bowl champions, and 16 Heisman finalists who played in the annual game. With previous players like Tim Tebow, Odell Beckham Jr, and Ezekiel Elliott, the players in this year’s All-American Bowl could be the future athletes taking your favorite football team to the playoffs in the years to come.
Moving from the national game to the local game at 5:00 pm CST, the All-Star Game will feature students from Bexar County and several surrounding counties. This game features athletes committed to play for some of the top universities in the country and will be a great way to support the local sport’s efforts in our city.
San Antonio Sports has been hosting the All-Star Game since December 2000 and has been promoting the importance of sports in our community even longer.
