What do you get when you blend a night of British comedy and music?
The simple answer is British Rock Nites! A charitable fur-raising comedy show and concert benefiting local San Antonio pet rescues sponsored by Thomas J. Henry. The event was held on Friday, August 20th at the La Cantera Resort in San Antonio.
Comedian, singer, author, television personality, and pet advocate, John O’Hurley entertained guests with storytelling, songs, and jokes keeping everyone laughing all night long. John’s career has been illustrious to say the least. He hosted Family Feud for 5 years after playing the infamous ‘Mr. Peterman’ on the hit comedy series ‘Seinfeld’. He is also the host of The National Dog Show on NBC every Thanksgiving Day.
O’Hurley will be joined by Sixtiesmania, one of the leading sixties and seventies, revival rock bands in the USA today! This Las Vegas British showband pays tribute to and celebrates the great hits of The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and more. Tickets were sold to the public and sponsors with all net proceeds benefited local pet rescue organizations like God’s Dogs Rescue and the Animal Defense League.

God’s Dogs Rescue is located in Von Ormy, Texas on five acres of fenced in enclosures for dogs to run, play, exercise, and be rehabilitated to ultimately find their forever homes. Since 2014, the organization has been working with on-site rescues, at home fosters, and adopters with an average of 60 dogs coming in and out of their facility a month. Thanks to the support of the community, they opened their first adoption center in March of 2021. In 1934, Animal Defense League became an organization with a mission to prevent cruelty to animals. Over the years their mission expanded from providing basic shelter and care to finding permanent homes for thousands of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens annually. In 2020 alone, they helped over 6,190 pets find the perfect families to live out their lives with. The organization now resides on over 12 acres in northeast San Antonio and continues to help the stray community in our city while educating and providing services to the public.
