Rudy’s Bar-B-Q has continued their “pink” campaign for the sixth year in support of cancer awareness and research in partnership with UT Health San Antonio. After another successful campaign thanks to the support of our community, Rudy’s was able to raise $117,928.30 for the San Antonio Cancer Council for cancer awareness and research! When patrons made a donation of $5 at checkout, they received a FREE $10 Bar-B-Q voucher for their next visit.
“We are grateful to all of our supportive patrons who contributed to our annual ‘pink’ cancer awareness campaign,” said Jonathan Barker, Director of Community Relations for Rudy’s Bar-B-Q. “As a result of this campaign, we are able to support the San Antonio Cancer Council and their mission to promote cancer awareness and research.”
“Since 2015, Rudy’s ‘Pink’ campaign has partnered with the SA Cancer Council to raise funds for breast cancer research,” said Mary Downey, President of the SA Cancer Council. “Every year, 100 percent of the money raised is donated to the Mays Cancer Center’s breast cancer research program. The SA Cancer Council is proud of its association with Rudy’s and is deeply thankful for the entire Rudy’s team and their enduring commitment to change the story of cancer.”
Today, a special check presentation took place to celebrate the campaign and pass along the generous funds to the San Antonio Cancer Society.

The SA Cancer Council is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that funds the fight against cancer. Over the past 35 years, we have donated more than $5 million to the patients and research at the Mays Cancer Center, the newly named center at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson. Direct donations and funds raised at our events involve hundreds of members throughout the greater San Antonio community. As a result, we can provide financial and logistical support to patients in need and fund cutting-edge clinical research to help prevent and eradicate cancer.
