Don’t Expect to See ‘Robby the Robot’ Working at The PM Group Anytime Soon!

The PM Group continues to invest heavily in many forms of automation technologies to keep us on the cutting edge of the top marketing and advertising agencies in Texas. The technology terms ‘automation and robotics’ are quite often used interchangeably in many businesses. However, it is not surprising to hear more about the replacement of humans by robotics given the skilled workforce shortage that many industries are facing in today’s post-pandemic world.

 

 

Don’t worry! The advertising industry is not a likely candidate to have client marketing campaigns written and created by artificial intelligence (AI) any time soon! Most advertising campaigns are predicated on triggering an emotional connection or response to a need or want. AI is years away from thinking like our mass population by utilizing automation and robotics.

 

 

Automation is the process of using computer software or machines to perform tasks that are most often performed by real people. A good example of this at The PM Group is how our media buying department is heavily automated to effectively purchase, monitor and audit the outcomes of client campaigns. Our media automation also interfaces with our accounting software to timely and accurately produce client billing and accounting statements, as well as, monthly agency financial reports within days of a month’s end.

 

 

Robotics is the technology process of creating and using robots to perform certain tasks. There are not a lot of uses today for a robot at an advertising agency—except as a receptionist perhaps. But that is highly unlikely given our receptionist Natalen has been employed with us for over 25 years and she is more like a superhero performing hundreds of tasks every month. Robotics continuously need software and mechanical upgrades to stay current with needs. Natalen does all that with her experience and commitment. Yes, she has job security.

 

 

That said, our commitment to automation and technology improvements is unwavering. The PM Group leadership team knows that if we intend on remaining the number one advertising and marketing firm in San Antonio and South Texas, we can never stop investing in our business or our people.
