Making a Difference in San Antonio: Soldiers’ Angels
This past Sunday, our latest publication of Making a Difference in San Antonio featured one of our nonprofit clients, Soldiers’ Angels. Our relationship with Soldiers’ Angels began in 2018 when we hosted them at our offices for a PM Group community service project. Our team made no-sew blankets for veterans in local VA hospitals as we learned about the great impact Soldier’s Angels has on our community locally, nationally, and across the world. The recent feature in the San Antonio Express-News explains this impact in even greater detail and educates our community on the numerous opportunities to get involved as well.
Soldiers’ Angels has several programs they conduct annually including their Deployed Support Program, Family Support Program, Wounded Support Program, and Veteran Support Program. Within each program, volunteers put in hundreds of hours baking for families and soldiers, writing letters of encouragement and support, sewing and crafting for families at home, and even collecting and distributing baby items for little ones and that’s only just a few of the ways these programs support our military. These are also just their programs, they also host annual campaigns throughout the year to collect and make the top items soldiers need. Some of these campaigns are their Valentines for Veterans, Warm Feet for Warriors, and Holiday Stockings for Heroes. With the help of volunteers and generous community donors, each campaign gives away thousands to tens of thousands of items to deployed soldiers.
To say Soldiers’ Angels makes a big impact on our active duty and Veteran military community is an understatement. Since its founding, they have provided more than $205 million in aid for military, veterans, and their families. In 2020 alone, they adapted to include efforts to support during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped over 40,300 Veteran families with food support and they distributed over 413,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to combat deployed, active duty, VA Staff, and volunteers at food distributions. We are honored to work with and feature an organization that works so hard to lift up such an important group of individuals in our country.
