‘Tis the Season of Giving
The holiday season gives us opportunities to experience the joy of giving gifts to those we love, but it also gives opportunities to spread that sense of giving to our greater community. At The PM Group, giving is a core value of who we are as an agency. Without fostering the community we live in, and lifting up the organizations that make our city a better place, how can we expect San Antonio and South Texas to continue to thrive and help those in need?
We have had the privilege of working with so many non-profits over the years, and we are proud to promote their messages to help support their missions. This giving season, help your community by giving to one of the many charities we are honored to call clients. The work they do continues to support important groups in our city – from school supplies to children in need, services to let children with disabilities thrive, fostering a community of sports, and supporting veterans and active duty military – your gift not only helps a single organization, but also improves the lives of everyone in your community.
To find out more about our non-profit clients, you can read more about what they do below and visit their websites.
Brighton Center provides developmental and education services to children of all abilities. Through a holistic, family-centered approach, they offer enrichment and development through an inclusive early childhood education program, in home therapy services, counseling, case management and special education support and services. They offer families hope, caring, understanding, and education that not only uplifts the child but uplifts the parents as they learn how to best help their child overcome hurdles and succeed.
Since 1984, San Antonio Sports has transformed our community through the power of sport. By providing programs and access to sports that encourage children and their families to live active and healthy lives, they have recognized the link between healthy bodies and healthy minds. They are in 290 local elementary schools providing in-school and afterschool programs to teach children values like integrity, excellence, leadership, and teamwork that not only help them thrive as children, but help them be successful throughout the rest of their lives.
Soldiers’ Angels has several programs dedicated to veterans and active duty military. These programs include support to military families, deployed service members, wounded heroes, and veterans of all eras. Whether it be blankets made and delivered to veterans at VA hospitals, to supporting the staff and wounded across seas, none of their programs would be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their money, time, and talents to their organization.
SA YES has been distributing school supplies and classroom grants to local students at Title 1 Elementary schools since 1998. By providing each student with their own school supply kit, they hope the act serves as a reminder that each student is important to our community and the how important it is to be prepared to learn and grow. In 2017, SA YES was able to expand and add a branch in Corpus Christi, Texas called CC YES. In 2018, they expanded even further with the creation of Austin YES to aid the students of Austin, Texas. All three organizations were able to distribute 35,000 school supply kits at the start of the 2019 school year.
Founded in 1987, Respite Care’s original mission was to provide support for families caring for a child or loved one with developmental disabilities and to enhance the stability and nurturing opportunities of these families. This was provided through community based and overnight shelter services designed to provide short-term relief to parents. Their mission expanded in 1997 to provide care for children with special needs from all over the state who are in protective custody as a result of neglect or abuse. Today, Respite Care now provides site-based services for families who could use a little help, like daycare and Parent’s Day or Night out.
Kindness Daily provides advocacy, resources, and education to address cyber and emotional abuse of young people in our community. By promoting the message, “be kind everyday”, they hope to encourage victims to speak up against their abusers and put an end to emotional abuse.
